MBSR and MBCT and other Mindfulness-Based Programs

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy(MBCT), and other mindfulness based programs were created and standardized as research programs. This research has quantified the value of the teachings and proven statisitically the power of mindfulness based practices in healing an increasing number of physical and mental illnesses. We offer these courses on a contract basis for organizations or in individual coaching sessions.

However, we prefer to create transformational trainings designed, not to correct problems, but to create new perspectives and open new possibilities. Tailored transformational programs borrow scientifically recognized strategies from western mindfulness-based programs, but also incorporate valuable elements from the source of mindfulness teachings, vipassana meditation or clear seeing, and relational vipassana which foster qualities of mind condusive to relational strength and enhanced performance.


Mindfulness based courses can provide the means for individuals to become active participants in their own healing process and will enrich any life. For anyone considering treatment options for various disorders, these courses offer empowering tools and valuable experiential information to help determine appropriate next steps. The mindfulness trainings can also be used as a component of a comprehensive treatment plan, supplementing work with participants' doctors and therapists.

Formal Mindfulness-Based Programs are offered in six to eight 2 1/2 hour sessions and include a day of retreat. Because of the length of time available, the eight week course includes more body work than shorter courses. Materials are provided including a workbook and practice CD's.

Tailored Mindfulness-Based Programs for your Population
Courses can be tailored for various circumstances and populations. Mary has been teaching many years - Mindfulness and Insight (very similar to MBCT) since 1989, perceptive and/or cognitive skills since 1970, and formal MBSR classes since 2003.

Insight and Mindfulness Courses are appropriate both for those new to meditation and a valuable deepening and enriching experience for anyone who has had other meditation experience.

All Mary's Insight and Mindfulness courses incorporate, to the degree appropriate for varied circumstances, valuable elements of MBSR and MBCT programs with wisdom teachings of Insight Meditation and interpersonal capaciites through relational vipassana. These circumstances range from clinical offerings for business settings and healing environments to transformative teachings of wisdom, contemplation, and ethical behavior in creating a lifestyle in harmony with our heart's deepest desires or in developing business plans that harmonize business bottom line goals with contemplative values.
