 Mary Rees, MS
has been teaching since 1970. She currently teaches beginning courses in meditation and more advanced trainings for integrating insight and mindfulness into all aspects of daily life. Insight and mindfulness include relational, perceptual, and cognitive skills, wisdom and compassion, open accepting awareness, skillful attention, and wellness in all facets of life. She works with students individually and in groups, in both short and ongoing courses, in person and online, and in public and private venues.

Mary Rees is a Spiritual Director formed in both Christian and Buddhist traditions. She has a professional background in formal assessment (Educational Diagnostician) and in teaching uniquely gifted learners (Specialist in Specific Learning [dis]Abilities). Mary has been teaching perceptual and cognitive skills since 1970 and insight and mindfulness meditation since 1989 at the suggestion of her lineage holder, Rodney Smith. She is a Dharma Leader in the international Insight Meditation community and has extensive experience in silent retreat. The primary centers of this tradition are in Barre, MA (Insight Meditation Society) and in San Francisco, CA (Spirit Rock Meditation Center).
Mary also participated in a 9-day professional training program in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli and trained to teach the creating process with Robert Fritz. She is certified in use of the Birkman Method® a tool for assessing stressors and competencies, both individual and group, a method which is heavily researched and used widely, initially only in Fortune 500 companies to develop promising executives.
