Meditating Mental Health Professionals

Third Fridays 11AM - 1PM
4100 Westheimer, Suite 233, 77027

This is an ongoing group and series of meditation courses (each session a course on its own) intended only for Meditating Mental Health Professionals (MMHP). An active meditation practice is assumed and encouraged. Practitioners from any style of meditation are encouraged to participate.

There are now two requirements for participation: The courses build on the Insight and Mindfulness Course (or other meditation experience) and address a second level on the continuum of mindfulness and therapy: mindfulness-informed psychotherapy. You may take indiviual sessions of interest to you or attend every session in the series.

Through individual support provided in these sessions, the mental health professional establishes and maintains a daily practice; deepens skill in mindfulness, insight, and the terrain of her/his own mind; and integrates mindfulness in all aspects of life, with particular emphasis on integration of skills into clinical settings.

The group is the primary format for working with objectives for these courses. It is made up of one session courses, some in a series, but all available as individual coursees. Private sessions are also available. Professional writing is encouraged, but not required.

Contact mary@citta101.com if you have questions or would plan on attending the next session.

Initial Registration provides access to the monthly group and online courses for Meditating Mental Health Professionals.

Individual objectives of each of these courses can also be met in individual sessions as well as in retreat and workshop settings.

At the conclusion of each session in this series of sessions, the mental health professional will increase skill in working with his/her own mind, in all life circumstances, but particularly in the theraputic relationship by:
  • Naming and recognizing experientially common qualities of mind
  • Identifying skillful and unskillful qualities of mind that arise in ones own continuum (in formal practice and in clinical setting)
  • Applying various meditation strategies as are appropriate for particular life circumstances and, in clinical settings, informing the theraputic process through skillful qualities of mind and in making appropriate treatment choices.
  • Reading, studying, and applying state of the art writings regarding insight and mindfulness and their application in clinical settings.
